Responsibilities
The Building Inspections Division is responsible for:
- Enforcement of the NC State Building Codes within the county's territorial jurisdiction, including other local building laws and ordinances.
- Regulating the construction of buildings and the installation of plumbing, electrical, gas, and heating ventilation & air conditioning system.
Additional Duties
Aside from the main responsibilities, the division is also in charge of:
- Reviewing construction plans
- Receiving applications for permits and issuing or denying permits
- Making necessary inspections
- Issuing or denying certificates of compliance
- Issuing orders to correct violations
- Keeping adequate records
- Taking any other actions that may be required to adequately enforce laws, ordinances, and regulations
