  • You will need to complete the Application for Water Service Tap form (prices are given on the form). When payment is received for the tap you select, the tap will be installed within approximately two weeks if connecting to the existing water system. Once a tap is installed, a monthly tap discount fee of $20 will be charged until you connect your home to the county water system. When you are ready to connect to the water service tap, the application for water/sewer service form will need to be completed and the application fee and deposit paid. Once this has been done, the water meter will be installed.

    • One most common problem is the toilet. Test it for leaks by putting a few drops of dark food coloring in the tank. After 12 hours without flushing, if there is coloring in the bowl, the seal in your tank is leaking. Make sure the handle mechanism operates smoothly and the chain does not get caught under the flapper.
    • Check faucet, shower, laundry, and water heater connections and the plumbing under the home.
    • Fill out the complaint form or call Nash County Public Utilities. When our service employee arrives, make sure no water is in use. The meter will be re-read and checked for an indication of unexpected water usage. We will notify you with the findings.
