  • First, get clearance from your planning zoning and utilities authorities. Then, get the application from Environmental Health. You will need to complete the application, pay the fee and provide a site plan. Nash County Environmental Health and Nash County Planning / Zoning Department are located together in the Administration Building.

  • Your lot must be cleared from undergrowth and thin enough (if wooded) that a laser level can be used to lay out the septic system.

  • Total coliform includes several species of bacteria that are present normally in the soil or on plants. Total coliform may not be harmful in themselves but do indicate that there is a possible source of contamination. Fecal coliform indicates contamination from the bowel of a warm-blooded animal.

  • Well and Septic permits are valid for 5 years. The Well or Septic must be installed within the 5 years.
